Operators in Tanssi: The Backbone of ETH-Backed Security for L1s

TL;DR

Intro: Market context

The stack is moving from shared blockspace to sovereign L1s. Builders want control, predictability, and scalability. Tanssi’s approach is to make sovereignty practical, with rapid deployment and shared security provided through Symbiotic, so new networks inherit Ethereum-aligned trust from day one.

In that design, Operators are the layer that turns blueprints into running infrastructure. They keep networks live, performant, and honest.

What Operators do?

In Tanssi, operators are network validators. They’re the entities responsible for securing the ecosystem. Their role sits alongside network nodes and sequencers, and together these three layers keep Tanssi-powered networks live and trustworthy.

Operators, specifically, handle three core responsibilities:

  1. Verification – They validate every block produced by sequencers, checking that all included transactions are correct.

  2. Security – By registering and staking with providers like Symbiotic, they align with Ethereum-level trust guarantees and extend that security across all Tanssi L1s.

  3. Liveness – Operators produce blocks for the Tanssi network itself, ensuring uptime and performance for builders and users.

In short: sequencers keep the system moving; operators keep it secure. Without operators, there’s no final check that transactions are valid, and no stability for L1s to build on. Their role is what transforms Tanssi from rapid deployment infrastructure into a production-grade, secure ecosystem.

Operators in Tanssi’s Ecosystem Design

Operators are builders of stability. Their reliability directly impacts L1 developers and end-users, as any downtime or lag degrades trust. By aligning with Ethereum-backed shared security through Symbiotic, Operators help extend that trust to every L1 launched through Tanssi. We covered the technical part in this blog post: L1 Security: Node Operators.

In short: In Tanssi’s model, node operators are equally vital. But instead of focusing on a single L1, they validate and coordinate across multiple L1s. Selected via NPoS and secured via Symbiotic, they earn rewards in $TANSSI through Ethereum smart contracts.  This model rewards availability, honesty, and scale. All without requiring deep protocol customization.

Here’s what makes them critical in Tanssi’s design:

  • Out of the box: Every new L1 that launches through Tanssi inherits a ready-to-go Operator set, providing immediate security without needing to bootstrap from zero.

  • Customizable: Builders can also bring their own operators into the system. Once onboarded, these operators don’t just secure a single L1. Those operators then contribute to the shared pool of operators.

  • Compounding effect: With each L1 that goes live, the global operator base grows stronger. More operators mean higher redundancy, better coverage, and deeper resilience for the entire ecosystem.

In practice, this design transforms L1 growth into a security flywheel: Each new L1 that goes live strengthens the global operator base, making the security layer deeper and more resilient. Scale doesn’t dilute trust in Tanssi’s model — it compounds it.

Meet the Tanssi Operators

The strength of Tanssi’s security lies in the operators who manage its infrastructure. Each brings proven experience in validation, staking, and node reliability across multiple networks. Together, they form the backbone of Tanssi’s shared security.

One of the largest institutional staking providers. P2P.org secures billions in assets across Ethereum, Cosmos, Solana, and over 40 other networks. Their presence in Tanssi extends high-availability infrastructure and deep protocol experience to the operator set.

A professional infrastructure provider specializing in secure, scalable validator services. Pier Two supports multiple proof-of-stake ecosystems and brings operational resilience to Tanssi’s growing network.

Operated by STAKR, cp0x delivers validator and staking services with a focus on security and decentralization. Their cp0x initiative is part of their commitment to building sustainable blockchain infrastructure.

An infrastructure company offering validator, RPC, and staking solutions across proof-of-stake chains. Their addition to Tanssi ensures reliable node operation and robust uptime.

Based in Switzerland, Luganodes is a top institutional-grade staking provider recognized for reliability, compliance, and performance. They secure assets across Ethereum, Polygon, and other leading networks.

A decentralized staking collective with a long track record in Ethereum and DeFi. Stake Capital contributes operational expertise and validator infrastructure to Tanssi’s operator set.

Known for validator services across Ethereum and Cosmos ecosystems, Alchemy Validators bring technical depth and operational scale to Tanssi.

Part of the HashKey Group, HashKey Cloud is a regulated infrastructure provider offering enterprise-grade validator and staking services across major blockchains.

OpsLayer operates secure and scalable validator nodes for proof-of-stake ecosystems, contributing technical reliability and uptime to Tanssi’s operator base.

A next-generation infrastructure team focused on high-performance validation and node services. Their inclusion adds redundancy and strength to Tanssi’s operator pool.

The Tanssi Foundation itself participates as an operator, ensuring the network’s core infrastructure remains robust and aligned with the project’s long-term mission.

The Bigger Picture

Operators are a core part of the Tanssi flywheel. L1s bring new activity and adoption, vaults manage liquidity and incentives, managers coordinate risk, and operators enforce trust at the infrastructure level. Each role strengthens the others.

For builders, this means L1s launched with Tanssi are not only fast to deploy but also secured by a growing, professional operator base aligned with Ethereum.

For the ecosystem, it means scale doesn’t weaken security. It compounds it.

As more L1s deploy on Tanssi Mainnet (this step is scheduled for Q4 2025), the ecosystem expands and its security improves accordingly.

As mainnet expands, operators are the trust layer, turning rapid launches into production-grade L1s. Explore the Tanssi docs or launch your own chain today.
